Lerero Features and Benefits
An Introduction to the Lerero Learning Management Solution
Lerero Team
Why was Lerero made?
Our dilemma stemmed from the reliance on third-party platforms to deliver The KPI Institute training courses. As a training company, we recognized the need for specific features tailored to our requirements. Therefore, one question arose: Why not develop our platform? This solution is rooted in our research, which indicates the necessity of customizing features to optimize training delivery.
What were the issues that led to Lerero?
Every training company seeks to continuously improve every iteration of its training delivery as people evolve and expect different things from each experience over time.
Here is a list of the top 5 conundrums that have posed an issue sometimes in our delivery:
- Learner onboarding occurs via e-mail.
- Context and expectations are gathered via various survey tools through questionnaires, often posing accessibility issues for facilitators.
- Course materials are shared via various learning management systems.
- Training delivery is conducted via video conference tools like Zoom.
- Course evaluations are once again managed via survey tools, which impedes the creation of a unified repository for feedback.
To sum up, we would use three or more external platforms for one course at any given point.
Why would this be a problem?
Learners have vastly different training preferences, skill levels, knowledge, and individual goals in a world as diverse as ours, Traditional one-size-fits-all approaches to training and education simply need to address this adequately.
A) In the first series of issues, let’s look at the typical challenges that training companies might encounter:
- Juggling multiple platforms and tools for training sessions, such as managing learner onboarding through email, utilizing GForms or Survey Monkey for pre-course materials and surveys, etc.
- Performing needs assessments and gathering context and expectations via various survey tools can create accessibility hurdles for facilitators.
- Disseminating course materials effectively through the Learning Management System.
- Utilizing video conferencing tools like Zoom for conducting training sessions and tracking attendance separately.
- Managing course evaluations using disparate survey tools, necessitating a centralized feedback repository.
- Facing a need for more diverse methods to assess the learner’s comprehension.
- Lacking a foolproof evaluation system.
- Addressing the forgetting curve experienced by learners & absence of learning reinforcement.
- Failing to track learner progress post-course delivery.
- Allowing the learner’s educational journey to stagnate upon course completion.
B) Moving on to a second set of more particular issues, we have to mention that most platforms fail to implement or embed many foundational elements of a good learning journey, such as learning progress assessment, learning reinforcement, learning validation, learning application tracking, or developing a roadmap for continuous learning.
This leads to a very disjointed learning journey:
No Learning Progress Assessment—Regular assessment makes gauging learners’ understanding and progress easier. This lack of insight can lead to learners falling behind without intervention, potentially resulting in frustration, disengagement, and reduced learning outcomes.
No Learning Reinforcement – Without reinforcement, learners may struggle to retain information over time. This can lead to forgetting key concepts, making it difficult for learners to apply knowledge effectively in real-world situations or to build upon previous learning, ultimately hindering overall skill development and mastery.
No Learning Validation – Without validation, there’s no assurance that learners have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills. This can result in gaps in understanding, leading to misinformation, errors, or inadequate performance in tasks or responsibilities, potentially compromising productivity, quality, or safety.
No Learning Application Tracking – Without tracking applications, it’s challenging to assess how well learners can apply knowledge and skills in real-world contexts. This lack of insight can obscure areas where learners may need help or additional support, hindering their ability to transfer learning to practical situations effectively.
No Roadmap for Continuous Learning – Without a roadmap for continuous learning, learners may lack the direction and motivation to pursue ongoing development. This can lead to complacency, stagnation, or skill obsolescence, hindering professional growth and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
How big of a problem is it?
Well, personalized learning experiences are necessary for learners to stay motivated, comprehend complex topics, or apply their acquired knowledge effectively, leading to decreased learning outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
In addition to this, other negative consequences can arise in the form of decreased efficiency, fragmented communication, limited access to resources & data, coordination challenges, data silos, reduced effectiveness of training initiatives, missed opportunities for improvement, frustration, and disengagement among stakeholders, increased costs, and the risk of falling behind competitors.
What are the solutions?
At a basic level, a learning management solution (LMS) provides 5 core parts to a holistic solution that can be evolved and developed to create more and further reinforce its efficacy.
Fragmented Onboarding Communication
A learning management platform offers a centralized hub for onboarding materials, including welcome messages, training modules, and essential resources. New hires can access all necessary information in one place, reducing fragmented communication and ensuring a smoother onboarding process.
Accessibility and Coordination Issues with Survey Platforms
With a learning management platform, context and expectations can be managed directly within the system, eliminating the need for separate survey platforms. Customizable features allow for tailored communication and coordination, enhancing accessibility and aligning all stakeholders.
Disjointed Learning Experiences
Transitioning course materials to one singular learning management platform streamlines content management and delivery. The platform offers a user-friendly interface for organizing and accessing materials, ensuring a cohesive learning experience for participants while addressing any content management issues experienced previously when using several learning platforms for one objective.
Lack of Integration with Zoom and Other Platforms
A learning management platform can integrate seamlessly with various tools, including Zoom, to facilitate training delivery. This integration allows for centralized scheduling, access, and management of virtual training sessions, creating a more cohesive and user-friendly experience for trainers and learners.
Data Silos and Limited Insights with Survey Platforms for Evaluation
Utilizing a learning management platform’s evaluation and reporting features provides comprehensive insights into learner progress and training effectiveness. Assessment data, feedback, and performance metrics are consolidated within the platform, eliminating data silos and enabling informed decision-making based on actionable insights.
